Who we are

What this website collects

Nothing. This site has no contact forms, no account sign-ups, no analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts. We do not build a profile of you, and we cannot identify you from your visit.

Your browser stores one small item on your own device so the opening animation does not replay every time you move around the site. It is cleared when you close the tab and it never reaches us. There is more detail in our cookies policy.

What we collect when you contact us

When you call, message us on WhatsApp, or email us, we hold what you choose to send: usually your name, your contact details, your vehicle and what you want done to it. If you book work in, we also keep the records that go with the job, such as the vehicle registration, the work carried out and the payment for it.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

We use it to answer your enquiry, give you a quote, carry out the work and keep proper business records. Our lawful bases are taking steps to enter into and perform a contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving the workshop, and our legal obligations, which is why records connected to payments are kept for tax purposes.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We share it only where a job needs it, for example with a supplier fitting or supplying a part, a security or tracking provider registering a device you have bought, or our accountant and, where the law requires, HMRC.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are cleared out once they are no longer of any use to you or us. Records connected to completed jobs and payments are kept for six years after the end of the relevant financial year, in line with UK tax requirements.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our use of it, or ask for it in a portable form. Contact us at info@carology.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.

Booking and enquiries

Our online booking and the enquiry button are provided by Motion Bookings, which runs the booking system for our workshop. What you enter there, such as your name, contact details, vehicle and the job you want doing, is sent to them and to us so we can hold the appointment and get back to you. They process it on our instructions in order to run the booking service, and not for their own marketing.

Other services on this site

Two other things on this site are loaded from elsewhere. The map on our contact page comes from OpenStreetMap, and our wrap preview tool runs in a frame of its own. When you use the wrap preview, the registration you enter is used to look up the published vehicle details for that registration so we can show you the right car. Links to WhatsApp, Google Maps and our social profiles take you to those companies, where their own privacy policies apply rather than ours.

If we change how we handle information we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
